GATA Treasurer Election 2016


The ballot to vote for GATA Treasurer will be available through midnight on June  1, 2016.

The successful candidate will take office at the conclusion of this special election and serve through the 2018.  Duties of the Treasurer may be found in the GATA Constitution and Bylaws.

Voting is open only to certified and/or licensed members of the GATA.  Voting is open only to certified and/or licensed members of the GATA. Each eligible voter is given a unique link for voting via email.  Each ballot is unique and may only be used once.  Voting is completely confidential.

Tom Kamarad MBA, ATC, LAT

Tom is entering his third year as the small business owner of Sports Medicine LLC, where he successfully launched his own private label brand of athletic training tape and provides other medical supplies. In conjunction of being a small business owner, Tom also serves as the Head Athletic Trainer for Pinecrest Academy. 

Tom is an executive level business professional with vast experience in both business operations and business development. 

Prior to starting his company Tom served as the Vice President of Business Development at Surgery Partners, which is a national provider of outpatient surgery centers. 

He has also served as a Regional Vice President for Key Health, providing a financial solution in the healthcare space, and also Regional Vice President of Operations for the diagnostic division of HealthSouth. 

Tom received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southwestern State University and has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1999. He graduated in 2010 with a Masters of Business Administration from Florida Institute of Technology. 

Originally a native of Florida growing up, Tom now lives in Buford GA with his wife Bridget and their two children, Tommy and Brooke. 

"For a while now I have been looking for an opportunity to “give back” to the GATA. With my career taking a turn to the business side of healthcare I wanted to find just the right fit. I believe the GATA Treasurer opening would be the perfect place for me to use my business experience to serve the members of the GATA.  If given the opportunity it would be a true HONOR to serve!"

Susanne E. Tucker, MS, LAT, ATC, ITAT

Susanne is a native of Valdosta, Georgia and a 2003 graduate of Valdosta State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training. After completing her undergraduate degree, Susanne went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Health and Human Performance with a specialization in Sports Administration from Austin Peay State University in 2004. Susanne is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Southeastern Athletic Trainers’ Association, and Georgia Athletic Trainers’ Association. She was certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification in June 2003 and by the ImPACT Organization as an ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT) in November 2013.

Susanne is currently in her fifth year with Gwinnett Medical Center Sports Medicine in Duluth, Georgia. She received the Gwinnett Medical Center Sports Medicine Certified Athletic Trainer of the Year for 2015, which was voted upon by her peers. Susanne currently serves as the Head Certified Athletic Trainer/Coverage Coordinator for Med Tech Services for Infinite Energy Center: Arena/Forum/Theater in Duluth, Georgia, and Coolray Field, Home of the Gwinnett Braves, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Along with coordinating event coverage, initiating policies and procedures, and maintaining supplies and budget, she serves as a liaison between each venue’s administration and members of the Gwinnett Medical Center Sports Medicine staff. In addition to her duties with Infinite Energy Center and Coolray Field, Susanne also handles tracking the Sports Medicine program community coverage, expenses, and budget. She provides biweekly and monthly reports to program supervisors that are used in quarterly hospital meetings with physicians and administrators. Susanne previously served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Atlanta Fire United soccer organization in Duluth, Georgia, which boasts a roster of approximately 750 athletes ranging from 8 to 18 years of age, including 5 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) teams.

Prior to her tenure with Gwinnett Medical Center Sports Medicine, Susanne served as the Head Women’s Athletic Trainer at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She handled athletic training coverage of all nine women’s sports, along with the responsibility of inventory, supply and soft goods procurement for the university athletic training facilities.

“As a second-generation certified athletic trainer, I have been able to see the athletic training profession expand and grow throughout the years into the entity that it is today. I believe that we still have room for growth and I am excited at the opportunity to be a part of the Georgia Athletic Trainers’ Association and see what the future holds for our profession. I hope to play an integral part in moving the athletic training profession forward.”
